The yellow crocus is an endemic species in the Galichica National Park belonging to the genus Crocus of the Iridaceae family. It blooms in early spring on the peripheral parts of the melting snowcapped mountains. It is characterized by white-yellow flowers composed of 6 petals, and the stem is poorly developed with linear sepals. Other species of this family range from the eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia, and could be seen in different biotopes (steppes, meadows and high mountain forests).
